Wessex Internet Coverage
CDS in South Somerset
Connecting Devon and Somerset has contracted with Wessex Internet to deliver full fibre broadband to more than 3,600 homes and businesses in South Somerset over the next three years.
The contract is for gigabit-capable fibre straight to the property. This means that even if you only require a superfast (30Mbps) connection now, from day one it is capable of ultrafast (100Mbps) or gigabit (1,000Mbps) if you need it.
What areas are you connecting?
Please view the map for more details of the areas the contract will be connecting or enter your address into the Wessex Internet coverage checker.
Why aren’t all areas of South Somerset included?
The short answer is that the public funding that CDS has available to it at this time, even when combined with Wessex Internet’s own investment, is not enough to extend the planned full fibre network into all areas of South Somerset.
CDS is working with the Government’s Building Digital UK agency to secure additional funding from the £5bn national Project Gigabit programme and with the commercial sector to find alternative solutions.
Vouchers – another solution
Another way we may be able to help you and your community get connected to faster broadband is through the Government’s Gigabit Voucher programme.
Vouchers have already paid for 6,750 homes in the CDS region to be connected to full fibre broadband and the total investment is currently over £9 million in our patch.
